South Greene’s Lewis Joins Tusculum Lacrosse Program

South Greene lacrosse senior Jackson Lewis extended his athletic career to the collegiate level by signing to play with the local Tusculum Pioneers on Wednesday afternoon.

Lewis described the feeling of putting pen to paper and inking his commitment to Tusculum. He said, “It feels good. I definitely can’t say I did it on my own. I have a lot of great mentors that have helped me through the years. Great coaches and great parents who have helped me along the way. I definitely haven’t done it all myself, but it feels really good to actually sign. Just want to give the glory to God and thank him for allowing me to do this.”

South Greene’s lacrosse program began in the spring of 2026 and in its short time as a program has already produced a college athlete. Jackson Lewis, along with his father Dr. Daniel Lewis and brother Gideon Lewis, were instrumental in starting the program. Between board meetings, discussions with athletic directors, and much more the ball finally got rolling this past spring.

“It’s awesome. It’s a very big part of my life. I’ve been playing for 10 years. It’s the majority of my life I’ve been dedicating to this sport. So being able to share that love with others and not only grow, but grow another sport and make it more available to students and have more people able to do extracurricular activities. It’s awesome,” he stated.

Jackson started playing lacrosse at eight years old and became involved with the sport when his older brother joined the Greeneville Revolution team. After sitting in the crowd and watching his older brother play for a year Jackson decided to give it a shot.

In his sole season with South Greene, he recorded 27 points (24 goals and 3 assists), 63 ground balls, and was a perfect 2-for-2 on face offs. Lewis played at the attack position.

Jackson described the bus ride home from Roane County after the program’s first win as one of his favorite memories along with watching his younger brother Gideon score the first goal in program history in South Greene’s very first game.

The interest from Tusculum was enough to help make his decision easier. Jackson didn’t have plans of moving far away and turned down other potential suitors once he heard Tusculum was interested.

Jackson named South Greene Head Coach Austin Wallace, Las Vegas Desert Dog Anthony Malcom, and Tennessee Wesleyan Head Coach Kevin Parker as coaches who were important in shaping him into the player he is today.

Lewis plans on studying sports science with the hopes of becoming an athletic trainer one day.

Jackson was also named Lacrosse Player of the Year at our 5th Annual Roots Awards Presented By Quality Trophy & Engraving in June.
