Baseball:
Greeeneville 12 – Volunteer 2
The Greene Devils and Falcons battled tooth and nail through five innings before the Greene Devils exploded for 8 runs over the final two, taking the 12-2 conference win. Carson Quillen threw 6 strong innings to pick up the win, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 7. Will Harmon drove in 4 runs with his 4 hits, which included a homerun. Kobe Mundy and Quillen each picked up 3 hits in the offensive barrage. Greeneville will host Volunteer Tuesday evening at Dale Alexander Field at 7:00.
North Greene 15 – Unaka 0
Brady Malone was a one man wrecking crew as the Huskies shut out the Rangers 15-0 in conference action Monday afternoon Malone drove in 5 runs on 3 hits (2 doubles and a single) while striking out 11 in 4 2/3 innings of no-hit baseball.
West Greene 5 – Chuckey Doak 3 (9 innings)
West Greene and Chuckey Doak battled in a classic baseball match-up Monday afternoon in Lower Afton that saw the Buffaloes squeeze out a 5-3 conference win.
The Black Knights got on the board in the bottom of the first as they pushed 3 runs across the plate, capped off by a Jake Hinkle solo homer.
The Buffaloes chipped away with a single run in the top of the third and then tied the game with 2 more in the fourth.
The score stayed that way until the top of the 9th when the Buffaloes took advantage of some hit batters and base on balls before Braden McCamey drove in the go-ahead run with two outs.
McCamey led the Buffaloes at the plate collecting 3 hits (2 singles and a double), while Conner Campbell picked up the win on the mound going a strong 8 2/3 innings on the mound surrendering 3 runs on 7 hits.
Softball:
West Greene 8 – Cosby 4
Autumn Carter, Kaylee Willett, and Addison Peters each collected 2 hits as the Lady Buffs pounded out 10 hits enroute to their 8-4 win over Cosby. Morgan Brown picked up the win in the circle allowing 4 runs on 10 hits and striking out 3 in her 7 innings of work.
