SEVIERVILLE – Greeneville’s Lady Devils hit the road for the second time this season to face Sevier County. The Bearettes used a balanced scoring attack and capitalized on Greeneville’s turnovers to secure a 73–50 victory.
The Lady Devils opened strong, with Jordan Swatzell and Brylee Tullock knocking down early threes, while Julia Woolsey and Maria Lyde scored inside to keep pace with Sevier County for most of the first quarter. By the buzzer, the Bearettes held a narrow 23–17 lead.
The second quarter, however, proved costly for Greeneville. Turnovers and foul trouble gave Sevier County ample opportunities for transition baskets. The Bearettes outscored the Lady Devils 20–9 in the period, creating comfortable separation on the scoreboard.
“Honestly, we started better than we did against Bearden,” said Coach Annette Watts. “But we made 16 half-court turnovers in the first half, and you just can’t do that.”
Greeneville made adjustments defensively after halftime and battled throughout the final 16 minutes. Tullock led the Lady Devils with 22 points, while Woolsey and Lyde added 11 each.
Sevier County also placed three players in double figures: Aubree Thompson with 23, Kylee Barden with 17, and Hannah Madison with 10.
The Lady Devils now turn their attention to the Food City Classic, where they will face Sullivan East, Morristown West, and Watauga.
