GREENVILLE, S.C. — Tusculum University erased a two-goal deficit with a three-goal burst in the final 14 minutes, but Bob Jones University answered late to salvage a 3–3 draw Tuesday night at Alumni Stadium in non-conference men’s soccer action.
The Pioneers (1-8-2) trailed 2-0 with less than 15 minutes to play, but got goals from Luka Slankamenac, Carlos Perez and Andrew Eneme to go up 3-2 with 5 1/2 minutes left. However, the Bruins (5-4-3) would get the equalizer on a free kick with 4:12 remaining to earn the draw.
Tusculum outshot Bob Jones 18-10 in the match and had a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks, but trailed after goals from Solomon Leaman in the 34th minute and Pedro Ribeiro in the 72nd minute. Slankamenac got Tusculum on the board at 76:20 as he collected a cross field pass from Aaron Joseph and beat Bruins keeper Luke Provenzano to pull the Pioneers within 2-1.
Perez got the equalizer at 78:05 as he finished at the far post following a long cross from Zeljko Stanojevic, and Eneme completed the turnaround at 84:24 as he fired home a quick pass from close range from Perez.
However, Bob Jones would finish the scoring with just 4:12 on the clock as Noah Burkett drilled a free kick past Tusculum keeper Donovan Cobb, who had kept the Pioneers in the match with several strong saves in the second half in his first start of the season.
Cobb finished with six saves in goal for the Pioneers, with Provenzano collecting five saves for the Bruins. Both teams were called for nine fouls and shown two cards in the match.
