PAWLEY’S ISLAND, S.C. — The Tusculum University men’s golf team posted a score 297 for its opening 18 and was tied for 18th place at the Spring Bulldog Clash, which is being held at the par 70, 6,526-yard Caledonia Golf Club. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being hosted by Barton College.
Second round play was suspended on Monday due to darkness and will be completed Tuesday morning prior to the final round.
Newberry had the first round lead with 277, followed by Barton (279), Shorter (280), Rogers State (282), Columbus State (283) and Coker (284). Three times are tied for seventh place at 287 including Lander, North Georgia and Lenoir-Rhyne. Four teams carded a 289 are tied for 10th place including USC Aiken, Davenport, Limestone and King. Belmont Abbey is 14th with 290, followed by Wingate (294), Mount Olive (295), Chowan (296), Tusculum (297), Emmanuel (297), Anderson (299), Erskine (299) and Catawba (302).
Individual placings were not provided, but Dominic Barron Holden posted a two-over par 72 for his first 18 holes. The trio of Morgan Cain, Blake Williams and Liam van Deventer each shot 75, while Isak Holter rounded out the scores with his 78.
Shorter University’s Blake Henriques fired a six-under par 64 to take the first round lead over second place Brandon Bodis of Davenport (66).
