INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Tusculum University softball team has earned the seventh seed for the upcoming NCAA Division II Softball Southeast Regional Tournament, the association announced Monday (May 5) morning. This marks the second time in program history that the Pioneers have been selected to the NCAA postseason event, with the first coming back in 2021.
Tusculum (37-17) will square off against the hosting North Georgia (42-12), the No. 2 seed and 10th-ranked overall, on Thursday (May 8) at 2 p.m. The foes split a doubleheader last month with the Nighthawks holding a 2-11 all-time lead over the Pioneers.
The three-day (May 8-10) regional event will be hosted by the top two seeds: Francis Marion and North Georgia, who are both ranked in the top-10 nationally. TU will be among the UNG bracket as the Nighthawks have hosted a portion of the regional tournament for 12-straight seasons.
The remaining two teams joining the Pioneers and Nighthawks are No. 3 seed Lenoir-Rhyne (36-17) and No. 6 Lincoln Memorial (34-18). The other side of the bracket consists of No. 1 Francis Marion (49-4), No. 4 Wingate (37-21), No. 5 Flagler (32-20), and No. 8 Georgia Southwestern (27-25).

The region two winner advances to the Super Regional (May 15-16) in a best-of-three series against the region one winner, hosted by the highest remaining seed. The NCAA Division II Softball National Championship will be held from May 22-28 at Frost Stadium at Warner Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The event will be jointly hosted by Lee, North Georgia, and Chattanooga Sports.
