GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — Tusculum University has rescheduled its annual Homecoming festivities to Wednesday, Nov. 6 through Sunday, Nov. 10, following the impact of Hurricane Helene on the region. Homecoming was originally scheduled this weekend at Tusculum. The decision, made in response to the lingering effects of the hurricane, aims to create an opportunity for alumni to return to campus, support students, and assist the broader community in recovery.
In the wake of the hurricane, Greene County, including the Tusculum campus, experienced significant disruptions, including a loss of water service. The university transitioned all classes to an online format through Tuesday, Oct. 15, giving students the option to return home. Most students opted to leave campus, while others found temporary accommodations at nearby universities and private homes. About 25 students remained on campus. With water service now restored, students are beginning to return to campus.
One highlight of the rescheduled Homecoming will be a special recognition of Carson-Newman University during the football game on Saturday, Nov. 9. Carson-Newman generously housed approximately 100 Tusculum students, including all of the university’s football players, during the hurricane recovery.
The rescheduled Homecoming promises to be a time of celebration, reflection, and support as the Tusculum community continues its recovery from Hurricane Helene.
