KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee’s offense got off to a fast start and never looked back in its 14-4 run-rule win over Lipscomb Tuesday night at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

The 10-run win was highlighted by a six-run first inning and a career-high five-hit game from leadoff man Garrett Wright, whose performance marked the first time a Vol has recorded five hits in a single game since Christian Moore’s historic performance in the opening game of the 2024 College World Series against Florida State.

After hitting six home runs in the series finale versus Ole Miss last weekend, the Big Orange launched four more in Tuesday’s midweek win over the Bisons (17-20, 10-8 ASUN). Trent Grindlinger, Stone Lawless, Blaine Brown and Manny Marin all got in on the action, driving in nine of UT’s 14 runs scored.

Lawless had a standout night at the plate in his second game back in the starting lineup. The redshirt sophomore went 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBIs, a two-run homer and a walk, reaching base in all three of his plate appearances.

Marin was the third Volunteer to have three RBIs on the night, posted a 2-for-3 day with an RBI-single and the solo home run.

The Volunteers’ bullpen turned in a combined five scoreless innings while allowing just three hits with Ethan Baiotto earning his second win of the season after three clean innings of work in relief of starter Nic Abraham.

The Vols (27-14, 8-10 SEC) scored eight of their 14 total runs in the last four innings of the game to secure the run-rule victory and preserve their perfect 11-0 record in midweek contests this season.

Lipscomb scored all four of its runs in the top of the second inning to pull back within two after UT’s six-run outburst in the bottom of the first.

UP NEXT: Tennessee takes on their third straight ranked SEC opponent as No. 13 Alabama comes to town for a three-game set that will begin on Thursday night at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
