Women’s Golf Records Top-five Finish At Hilton Head Event

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The Tusculum women’s golf team moved up one spot on the leaderboard and finished fifth at The Battle at Hilton Head which was held at the par-72, 5,934-yard Palmetto Dunes Golf Club.

The Pioneers finished with a 54-hole aggregate team score of 946 including Tuesday’s final round 313.

The second-ranked Wingate Bulldogs claimed the team title with a score of 906 including a tournament-low 294 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs won by 16 shots over runner-up Carson-Newman as the Eagles carded a 922 total. Host Lincoln Memorial was third with 926, followed by Emmanuel (937), Tusculum (946), Barton (953), USC-Beaufort (954), Indianapolis (955), Mount Olive (960), Columbus State (974), North Greenville (980), Converse (993), Montana State-Billings (995) and Shorter (1066).

Wingate’s Amely Bochaton carded an even par 72 on Tuesday to finish with 221 and claim the individual medal by one shot over 36-hole leader Dilyara Bulambayeva of LMU who shot 72-75-75=222.

Tusculum freshman Maylei HIldenbrand was the low Pioneer of the tournament as she shot 72-77-81=230 to tie for 11th place. Junior Reagan Padilla moved up three positions on the leaderboard to finish tied for 14th with 83-73-75=231. Annabelle Mozingo made the biggest move on Tuesday, carding 85-83-75=243 to finish 41st, an 11-position improvement from Monday.  Emilie Bergh-Jacobsen (83-83-82=248) and Delfin Filiz (89-77-83=249) finished 49th and 51st, respectively in the 77-player field.

Tusculum returns to action in two weeks (Mar. 3-4) as they compete at the Emmanuel Spring Invitational in Hartwell, Georgia.
