Greeneville and South Jefferson’s 9-10-year-old All-Star teams opened play in the District 4 Tournament on Tuesday night in Morristown after rain delayed the start of the event by a day. Greeneville scored in every inning and combined a strong offensive performance with dominant pitching to roll to an 11-1 victory.
Morgan Anderson paced Greeneville at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three singles and three RBIs. Kase Landers added a double and a single while driving in two runs, and Boone Percell contributed a double and a single.
Percell earned the win on the mound, tossing 3⅓ scoreless innings while allowing three hits. He struck out eight and walked one. Rhett Legard and Nathaniel Bernard worked in relief to seal the victory.
Greeneville advances to face Morristown at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Popkin Field in the winner’s bracket final. South Jefferson will take on the loser of that game in an elimination contest scheduled for approximately 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
