TOLEDO, Ohio – The Tennessee men’s golf team concluded its second tournament of the 2026-27 season on Tuesday with the third and final round of the Inverness Intercollegiate at the Inverness Club.

The Vols fired their best score of the week on Tuesday, wrapping up the event with a 2-over-par 286. At 20-over-par overall, Tennessee secured a tie for seventh place among the strong field of 18 teams. Auburn took home the team championship, clinching a one-stroke victory at 11-over-par.

A significant driver of Tennessee’s improved performance in round three was Rudy Sautron. The senior transfer from Nebraska fired a bogey-free 4-under-par 67 to conclude the tournament, the fourth-best round by any player in the entire event. Through two tournaments, Sautron has proven to be a final-round specialist; he fired a 7-under-par 63 in the third round of the Visit Knoxville Collegiate to open the season earlier this month.

The strong final 18 saw Sautron claim Tennessee’s highest individual finish at the Inverness Intercollegiate, tying for sixth place among the field of 90 at 2-over-par. It is the second consecutive top-10 finish to begin his career on Rocky Top.

Alongside Sautron, Luke Smith secured the only other round under par by a Vol in the entire tournament on Tuesday. The sophomore from Toronto fired a 1-under-par 70 in round three, tallying five birdies, including a stretch of four straight on holes five through eight. After shooting 7-over-par in round one, Smith went even-par over the final 36 holes of the Inverness Intercollegiate to tie for 26th place.

Despite a 2-over-par 73 in round three, Jackson Herrington closed the tournament with a second consecutive top-20 finish to open his junior campaign. With a final tally of 5-over-par, Herrington finished in 18th place due in large part to two birdies on his final six holes.

Pennson Badgett recorded the final countable team score for Tennessee in round three, posting a 5-over-par 76. The freshman concluded the second tournament of his collegiate career tied for 52nd place at 10-over-par.

Tennessee will return to action at the Cullan Brown Collegiate, slated for Oct. 5-6 at Lexington Country Club in Lexington, Ky.
