GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — Catawba College remained undefeated for the 2026 season with a 2-0 victory over Tusculum University in South Atlantic Conference men’s soccer Sunday afternoon at Pioneer Field.
Gabriel Miranda scored in the 25th minute and Guilherme Quintas in the 82nd minute for the Indians (6-0-2, 3-0-1 SAC), who earned their sixth consecutive shutout by holding the Pioneers (1-4-1, 0-2-1 SAC) to four shot attempts in the match.
Catawba opened the scoring at 24:02 when Alex Payton passed ahead to Joao Magalhaes, and his cross was finished by Miranda for his third goal of the season.
The Indians made it 2-0 at 81:02 on a free kick just outside the box near the end line. Magalhaes chipped a pass through the front to Quintas at the far side, and he headed in his third of the year.
Catawba, which outshot Tusculum 12-4 in the match, had a 9-0 edge in corner kicks over the Pioneers.
Hector Vara earned the shutout with two saves for the Indians, while Gavin Roux finished with four saves for the Pioneers.
Tusculum will travel to Lees-McRae for a non-conference match on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. The Bobcats are also undefeated this season at 7-0-2 and 4-0-2 in Conference Carolinas, and coming off a 2-0 win over Erskine on Saturday.
