Chuckey-Doak took care of business on Tuesday night and carried out a 9-0 victory over Cumberland Gap in District 1-A action.
If the score wasn’t an indicator, it was all gas and no brakes for the Lady Black Knights. Five different goal scorers chipped in and two others helped with assists. Abby Hoxie and Layla Fox both completed hat tricks in their dominating win.
“That was really special. I didn’t even realize how many goals Abby had to start with, so I was really happy to see she got her third. Layla was wanting it so bad you can tell she wanted it so badly. She came out and we talked about putting it low and away and she went back to what she’s used to doing and got her hat trick as well,” Head Coach Anna Ricker expressed.

The defense pitched their eighth shutout of the season and did not allow Cumberland Gap to have any sort of offensive attack.
“It starts from the top and works its way back. The whole fact that we keep the ball on offense helps our defense. Our midfield wins in the middle and Tavyn sweeps up everything,” Coach Ricker stated. “Our defense is solid. They are marking well and stepping in front winning the ball.”
Her coaching philosophy of “if the other team can’t score then you can’t lose” rang true on Tuesday night. The Lady Knights improved to 11-3 (4-0) with their win over the Lady Panthers.
Five minutes in, Abby Hoxie delivered her first goal of the night with an assist from Layla Fox.

It would take eighteen more minutes for Chuckey-Doak to score, but it wasn’t a quiet eighteen. In the 13th minute, Hoxie seemed to strike again with a one-timer past the keeper, but it was called off due to offsides. Hailey Williamson and Abby Hoxie both caught bad breaks with shots off the crossbar only seconds apart in the 18th minute.
Layla Fox finally put them back on the scoreboard in the 23rd minute with a streaking shot past the keeper to go up 2-0. Betsie Ramirez contributed with the assist.
She almost secured another goal less than a minute later, but it was called off due to offsides. Lindsey Rojas responded back quickly with a goal to make up for it in the 25th minute. Fox delivered the assist.
Hoxie was charging towards the goal before getting knocked down and earned a penalty kick for Chuckey-Doak. Trinity Hengel was called upon to take the kick and finished the job without any doubt.

Three minutes after in the 34th minute Hoxie netted her second goal of the contest with another assist from Fox. The Lady Black Knights led 5-0 at the half.
Fox quickly delivered the first goal of the second half in the 43rd minute. She accounted for one goal and three assists in the first half and helped add two goals in the second.
Abby Hoxie was the first of the pair to complete a hat trick with her third goal in the 57th minute off an assist from Aliah Campbell.

Emma Hixon took everybody by surprise in the 75th minute with a long-range dart that streaked past everyone and into the goal.
Layla Fox ended the game early with 1:17 remaining and completed her hat trick to cap off Chuckey-Doak’s 9-0 win.
Chuckey-Doak attempted 40 shots on Tuesday night. They welcome Pigeon Forge into Lower Afton for their next matchup next Tuesday.
