Baseball wraps up season against Coker

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — The Coker University baseball team completed a weekend sweep over Tusculum University as the Cobras defeated the Pioneers 14-2 Monday afternoon at Pioneer Park.

Coker (29-20, 17-13 SAC) jumped out to a 6-0 lead and plated seven runs in the ninth to end the regular season with a three-game winning streak and tied for fourth place in the final SAC standings. The Cobras will be the No. 5 seed in this weekend’s SAC Tournament.

Tusculum (17-32, 10-20 SAC) wraps up its 2025 season dropping its final eight games and finished 11th in the conference.

Coker got two-hit outings from Ick Cirino, Gabriel Santiago, Hunter Poole and Jacob Yarberry. Yarberry also scored a team-high three runs and posted two runs batted in as the Cobras recorded a dozen hits and also drew three walks and had six hit batters.

Tusculum finished with six hits including two from Omar Carreras including his fifth double of the season.

Coker reliever Kyle Stock picked up the win to improve to 2-0. He went three innings, allowed two runs on three hits, one walk and three strikeouts. TU starter Brice Anders (3-9) suffered the loss in his home finale.

Tusculum’s Corey Binion pitched three solid innings where he scattered two hits, allowed one run, walked none and posted two strikeouts. Senior Kenny Kinzler pitched one shutout inning where he allowed a walk in his 11-pitch effort.

Coker’s Rocco Wojcik recorded three sacrifice bunts including a successful squeeze in the seventh inning.

Tusculum’s two runs were both drven in by sacrifice flies from Jude Morton and Avery Collins.
