BASEBALL
Greeneville 11, Cherokee 1
The Greeneville baseball team wrapped up the regular season on Monday with an 11-1 win over Cherokee.
The Greene Devils finish the regular season with a 25-8 record and will be the top seed in the District 2-3A Tournament. Greeneville will open the district tournament on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against the winner of Claiborne and Volunteer at Tusculum’s Pioneer Park.
Greeneville’s offense produced 13 hits in the win with Will Harmon leading the way. He went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and five RBIs.
Carson Quillen was 2-for-3 with a double, and Carson Norris was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Noah Murray, Kobe Mundy and Grayson Crosby each had two hits as well.
On the mound Randen Fillers earned the win. In four innings he struck out five, walked one and allowed one hit.
Grainger 8, West Greene 2
The West Greene baseball team went to Grainger on Monday and closed out the regular season with an 8-2 loss.
The Buffaloes earned five hits. Jhonen Bath had a double, while Conner Campbell, Jayden Cox, Brayden McCamey and Bronson Brown all had singles.
On the mound the Buffaloes used five arms. Brandon Hunter threw 2 1/3 innings with two walks and one hit allowed. Ethan Carpenter threw 2 1/3 innings with one strikeout, one walk and four hits allowed. Cox took the loss, giving up four runs in 1/3 of an inning.
West Greene will begin the District 1-2A Tournament on Wednesday at home against the winner of Johnson County and Happy Valley.
West Greene ends the regular season with an 18-7 record.
SOFTBALL
Greeneville 13, West Greene 1
The Greeneville Softball team closed out the home portion of regular season schedule on Monday with a 13-1 win over West Greene.
Everybody hit for the Lady Greene Devils as they pounded 18 hits from nine different batters.
Kaley Garland led the way by going 3-for-3 with a home run, double, four RBIs and three runs scored. Baylee Ramsey was also 3-for-3 with and RBI. Kyla Jobe was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Brynlee Jones and Brooke Parsley were both also 2-for-3 with a double.
Destani Bailey and Jamie Jackson also had two hits for Greeneville.
Jackson earned the win on the rubber. In four innings she struck out eight, walked two and allowed two hits.
Kaylee Willett and Amanda Owens each had a hit for West Greene.
Morgan Brown took the loss. In 3 1/3 innings she struck out three, walked one and allowed 18 hits.
West Greene will be back in action on Tuesday at home against University High.
North Greene 13, Cherokee 1
The North Greene softball team picked up a 13-1 win over Cherokee on Monday.
Matti Phillips led the Lady Huskies’ 12-hit effort by going 3-for-3 with two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored.
Loren Blevins went 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored. Heidi Trentham also had a double. All nine players in the starting lineup earned a hit on Monday for North Greene.
In the circle Charlie Turnmire threw four innings with three strikeouts, one walk and three hits allowed.
North Greene will travel to Unaka on Tuesday.
South Greene 13, Providence 5
The South Greene softball team earned a 13-5 win over Providence Academy on Monday night.
The Lady Rebels earned 12 hits in the victory. Paisley Brobeck went 3-for-4 with three doubles and four RBIs. Madison Hensley was 2-for-4 with a double, home run, three RBIs and three runs scored. Whitney Reaves and Kortnei Bailey each had two hits.
From the circle Bailey struck out 14, walked five and allowed four hits. In seven innings she gave up one earned run.
