KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Forward Nate Ament of the University of Tennessee men’s basketball team is the SEC Freshman of the Week for the fourth time in 2025-26, as announced Monday afternoon by the league office.

Ament previously claimed the distinction Nov. 10, Nov. 17 and Dec. 1. He also earned SEC Player of the Week plaudits Jan. 26. In total, this is his fifth weekly honor of the season.

The 6-foot-10, 207-pounder averaged 20.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game last week, across a pair of Tennessee victories. He shot 36.4 percent (4-of-11) from 3-point range and 80.0 percent (15-of-20) at the stripe.

Ament opened the week with 19 points, six rebounds and three assists Wednesday night in an overtime win at Georgia. He made two of his five 3-point attempts in the 86-65 decision.

Saturday, in a 77-69 triumph over Auburn, Ament scored a game-high 22 points and co-led all players with eight rebounds, adding one assist and one block. He went 12-of-15 from the free-throw line, the most makes and attempts by any Volunteer in over seven years, since Grant Williams on Jan. 23, 2019.

This is the 26th SEC Freshman of the Week honor for a Tennessee player since the award was reinstated in 2005-06, including the 14th in head coach Rick Barnes‘ 11-year tenure at the helm of the program.

A native of Manassas, Va., Ament is the first Volunteer ever to win four SEC Freshman of the Week plaudits. Tobias Harris (2010-11) and Ramar Smith (2006-07) held the prior record of three.

Ament and No. 25/RV Tennessee (15-6, 5-3 SEC) return to the hardwood Tuesday at 7 p.m. when they host Ole Miss at Food City Center, live on ESPN2. Coverage begins at 6:30pm on 103.1FM WIKQ.
