BASEBALL

West Greene 13, Claiborne 1

The West Greene baseball team picked up a 13-1 win over Claiborne on Thursday evening.

Ethan Carpenter earned the win on the mound. In four innings he struck out seven, walked one and allowed one hit.

At the plate Jhonen Bath was 2-for-2 with a double and three runs scored. Brandon Hunter went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs. Bronson Brown and Malaky Blair each drove in two runs.

Greeneville 8, Grace Christian Academy 6

The Greeneville baseball team earned an 8-6 win over Grace Christian on Thursday evening.

As a team Greeneville earned seven hits on Thursday. Grayson Crosby was 2-for-3. Will Harmon had a three-run home run and four total RBIs. Sam Thompson, Tegan Begley, Jaxon Winter and Jacob Ward all had singles for Greeneville.

On the mound Tegan Begley threw 2.2 innings with five strikeouts, one walk and four hits allowed. Sam Thompson threw 2.1 innings with two strikeouts, one walk and two hits allowed. Harmon went two innings with two strikeouts, one walk and two hits allowed.

Pigeon Forge 12, Chuckey-Doak 0

The Chuckey-Doak baseball team fell to Pigeon Forge 12-0 on Thursday night at Tusculum.

Collier Helton tossed a no-hitter for the Tigers with seven strikeouts and no walks.

At the plate Brody Watson led the Tigers’ 12-hit attack with two triples and three RBIs.

Gavin Crum took the loss for Chuckey-Doak. In two innings he struck out four, walked three and allowed five hits.

SOFTBALL

Greeneville 10, Daniel Boone 0

The Greeneville softball team picked up a 10-0 win over Daniel Boone on Thursday night.

The Lady Devils earned 12 hits as a team. Brynlee Jones was 2-for-2 with a home run and a double. Kaley Garland was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Riley Foshie went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Brooke Parlsey was 2-for-4 with a double. Baylee Ramsey went 2-for-3 and Katie Johnson had a double.

In the circle Jones threw six innings with eight strikeouts, two walks and four hits allowed.

Unicoi County 11, West Greene 0

The West Greene softball team fell to Unicoi County 11-0 on Thursday night.

Lela Byrd tossed a 14-strikeout no-hitter for the Lady Blue Devils.

Abby Cluesman took the loss for West Greene. In four innings she struck out two, walked three and allowed eight hits.

Cluesman reached base twice with a walk and a hit-by-pitch. Addison Peters also reached on a walk for West Greene.

SOCCER

Greeneville 3, Morristown East 3

The Greeneville soccer team settled for a 3-3 tie with Morristown East on Thursday night.

Emerson Hensley scored two quick goals for the Greene Devils in the second and 14th minutes. Sam Gourley assisted on both.

After falling behind 3-2 and playing two men down because of two red cards Justin Banegas delivered the equalizer for the Greene Devils in the 73rd minute.

BASKETBALL

Tennessee High 77, Greeneville 54

In the Region 1-3A championship game on Thursday at Grainger High School Greeneville fell to Tennessee High 77-54.

The Greene Devils are not done and will be in action again on Monday at Fulton in the Class 3A State Sectionals. Fulton beat Clinton 59-57 in the Region 2-3A championship game on Thursday.

Taren Claridy led Greeneville’s offense with 17 points and Zy Neal scored 11.

For Tennessee Caiden Terry had 23, Austin Thomas 16 and Braden Howard 15.
