Chapel Hill, N.C. – The Appalachian League announced award winners for the period of June 5 – 8. Greeneville’s Ezra McNaughton was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Tri-State’s Kenyon Collins was named Pitcher of the Week.
McNaughton, the BYU freshman hit .500 with three runs, two homers, eight RBI’s and three stolen bases in the first three games of the year. McNaughton currently leads the league in RBI’s and is tied for the league lead in home runs, helping the Flyboys to get off to the sweep of the defending champions, Danville Otterbots.
Collins, who recently completed his freshman season at Marshall, pitched four scoreless frames allowing two hits and picking up 10 strikeouts in the Coal Cat’s 5-0 win over the River Riders. Collins currently leads the league in strikeouts and is tied for the lead in ERA.
