Bluefield 14 – Greeneville 0 (7-innings)
Greeneville hosted Bluefield at Eastman Credit Union Field on Wednesday night for the second game of a three-game series, but the Ridge Runners controlled the game from start to finish, rolling to a 14-0 victory.
Bluefield capitalized on 10 hits, eight walks, and four hit batters, while Greeneville managed just five hits, one walk, and one hit batter. It marked only the second time in 27 games that the Flyboys have been held scoreless.
Greeneville’s pitching staff retired the first five Bluefield batters before an error extended the second inning, allowing the Ridge Runners to take a 1-0 lead. Bluefield added three more runs in the third to stretch the advantage to 4-0.
The score remained unchanged until the visitors broke the game open with four runs in the sixth inning and six more in the seventh.
Bryan Williams Jr. led the Flyboys offensively with a double. Matthew Kerrigan, Owen ten Oever, Deacon Nelson, and Jackson Berry each contributed a single.
Blane Metz suffered the loss, allowing four runs, three earned, on three hits over 2 2/3 innings. He struck out three and walked three.
The series concludes Thursday night with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m. as the Flyboys celebrate GEA and Honky Tonk Night.
