The Greeneville softball team had no problem getting its bats going on Wednesday afternoon as it picked up a 15-3 win over visiting Chuckey-Doak.

Eight different Lady Devils earned a hit on Wednesday, eight different players scored a run, and eight different players were credited with an RBI. In total Greeneville earned 12 hits in the four-inning win.

“I’m really proud of the girls. They came out ready to play and that is all I can really ask for,” Greeneville coach Lilly Million said. “We want them to be ready to win each inning and they did that from the start. It’s great to see so many girls produce at the plate. We tell them all that they each have their role, and anyway on base is a good way on base. That worked for us today.”

While Greeneville’s offense stole the show Chuckey-Doak got the day started with a big bang at the plate. In the top of the first inning Saniah Atchison quickly gave the Lady Black Knights the lead when she blasted a leadoff homerun over the left field wall.

Two walks followed and then Tralyn Southerland skipped a single over second base that knocked in Jade Foreman for a 2-0 Chuckey-Doak lead.

Not to be outdone Kaley Garland got the Lady Greene Devils started with powerful swat, matching Atchison with a solo home run over the left field wall from the leadoff spot.

Garland had the biggest day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two home runs, four RBIs and three runs scored.

“I like that Kaley brings momentum with each of her at bats,” Million said. “She’s able to get us going and that is what we need from that spot. Leading off the first inning like that was huge for us. Softball is a game of momentum and we were able to take it right there. The girls really follow her when she gets going.”

Baylee Ramsey reached on a line drive to centerfield and tied the score when Addie Lamons was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Brooke Parsley gave Greeneville the lead when she fired a shot into the center field grass that scored Kyla Jobe and Brynlee Jones.

Jamie Jackson drove in two more runs with a line drive single to centerfield. Ramsey was walked with the bases loaded to score Jackson, and Garland gave the Lady Devils an 8-2 lead when she took advantage of a passed ball.

Greeneville scored two more runs in the second inning to take a 10-2 lead. Jones led off the side by launching a solo home run over the centerfield wall. Addie Lamons walked and scored from third when Kinslee Lewandowski hit into a fielder’s choice.

Chuckey-Doak looked as though it might regain some momentum in the third inning when its first two batters, Madison Malone and Hayleigh Seidl, both reached base. Jones quickly corrected that with some strong leatherwork at third base that resulted in a double play. Jackson followed with a strikeout to get out of the frame unscathed.

Jackson started Wednesday’s action a little shaky and let the first three batters she faced reach base, but after that she settled in and was tough for Chuckey-Doak to handle. She finished with five strikeouts, seven walks and three hits allowed in four innings of work.

“Jamie pitched great. She did her job and that’s all we can ask. It took her a little bit to get going, but once she gets going she produces. All we ask is that she gets the routine outs, and that’s what she did tonight,” Million said.

Chuckey-Doak pushed one more run across in the fourth inning. With two outs Atchison and Foreman both walked. That set up Madison Malone to send a line drive up the middle to score Atchison.

Greeneville then ended the game by run rule with no outs in the bottom of the fourth after plating five more runs. Garland pushed across three of those runs with a home run that sailed out of the park in centerfield. Destani Bailey knocked in Ramsey on a drive to left field, and Jones scored Jobe when she hit a hot shot to the third baseman.

Jones was 2-for-3 on Wednesday with a home run and two RBIs. Parsley and Jackson each had two hits and two RBIs. Jobe, Lamons and Ramsey each scored two runs for Greeneville.

For Chuckey-Doak Atchison was 1-for-1 with a home run, two walks and two runs scored.

In the circle Abbie Donoho started and finished the game, but was credited with 1/3 of an inning of work. She walked two, struck out none and allowed five hits. Jayden Myers threw 2 2/3 innings with three walks, two strikeouts, and seven hits allowed. The two combined to hit seven batters.
