Chuckey-Doak Middle carried out a varsity sweep on the road visiting South Greene on Thursday afternoon. The girls got things started with a 51-19 win and the boys finished the night with a 53-17 win.
Tatum Southerland was the Lady Knights leading scorer with 18 points. She was the main power supply that fueled a 19-4 run in the second quarter. Miana Hensley and Dani Shelton each had nine and Kierra Fox had eight.
Daniella Garcia scored eight to lead the Lady Rebels.
The Black Knights and Rebels were only competitive for a few minutes in the first quarter before Chuckey-Doak broke out to a double-digit lead at the end of the first. Things only got worse for the Rebels, but better for the Knights. Chuckey-Doak could do no wrong it seemed as they held South Greene to only two in the second quarter and ended the half with a half-court buzzer beater by Jackson Southerland.
They kept their foot on the throttle and eventually won 53-17. Eight different Black Knights scored on Thursday. They were led by Southerland with 15. Brody Myers joined him in double figures with 11.
Camden Marshall was hot early, but cooled off and finished with 11 points.
If you didn’t tune in to last week’s First Horizon Spotlight Game Of The Week you missed one of the best buzzer beaters you’ll see all year long! Jackson Southerland nailed a halfcourt buzzer beater before the half in last Thursday’s 53-17 win at South Greene Middle. pic.twitter.com/3LHXHG5XFc
