Greeneville’s Dante Smith signed to continue his bowling career with The University of Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday afternoon at The Alley.
He described what his recruiting was like and what led to his decision “When I was at GTC they came and talked to us and ever since then I fell in love with the school and went and toured it a couple times,” Smith stated.
Smith becomes the 6th Greeneville bowler to sign on to compete at the collegiate level. He joins Justin Miller (2011), Brittany Hensley (2012), Spencer Moore (2016), Jaden Scruggs (2020), David Painter (2020).
Greeneville’s coaching staff was a huge reason for his development and success that led to Wednesday’s signing. “They’ve helped me a lot. Ever since I didn’t know anything to where I am now going to bowl in college,” Smith said.
He also credited Assistant Coach David Painter for his help and time with the program when reflecting on what his time at Greeneville meant to him. “It means a lot. Especially this last year with David as an assistant coach. Loved having him. He helped all of us a lot. Even while he was still in college over the summer here helping us for tryouts and everything,”
Smith boasted a 140 career average and finished with an 11-15 individual record.
