KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — No. 4 Tennessee picked up an 8-0 midweek win over Tennessee Tech in walk-off run-rule fashion Tuesday night at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.
Erin Nuwer tossed her third career no-hitter and her second of the season. The sophomore’s performance goes down as the 65th no-hitter in Lady Vol history. The East Aurora, New York, native earned her 12th win of the season while striking out three batters across six innings of work.
The duo of Maddi Rutan and Alannah Leach logged home runs to solidify Tennessee’s victory.
Sophia Knight and Emma Clarke each finished two-for-three, while the trio of Clarke, Meredith Barnhart and Saviya Morgan combined for four doubles on the night.
Clarke recorded two doubles on the night while Barnhart logged her first career hit as a Lady Vol. Morgan’s double marks her first of the season and fifth of her career.
Tennessee (29-3) struck in the second inning. Clarke was the first to reach base with a double to right-center. Rutan quickly followed and blasted a homer to left field for her third of the year and 24th of her career.
Knight fired a triple to left field to put the Lady Vols on base in the fourth. A single by Mackenzie Butt and a double down left field by Clarke extended Tennessee’s lead to 4-0.
Tennessee loaded the bases with no outs in the fifth, as Gabby Leach and Ella Dodge both were hit, followed by a single from Knight. Gabby Leach scored on an Elsa Morrison sacrifice fly to add Tennessee’s fifth run of the game.
Barnhart then doubled down the right field line to score two, extending the Lady Vols’ lead to 7-0.
Alannah Leach called game with a solo home run to right center in the sixth inning, marking her fifth home run of the season.

The Lady Vols will take on Ole Miss at home in a three-game series starting Friday. Game 1 is slated for 6 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
