The Tennessee Sports Writers Association released its Class 4A All-State Football team on Saturday and five Greeneville Greene Devils were honored.
Seniors Caden Baugh, Zaydyn Anderson, Bishop Merriweather, and Zorian Harris, and junior Taren Claridy all earned the statewide recognition.
Caden Baugh was Class 4A’s Mr. Football Award winner after he led the Greene Devils to a 12-2 record and state semifinals appearance. This fall the Devils’ quarterback completed 122-of-159 passes for 2,653 yards with 36 touchdowns and two interceptions. On the ground he ran 133 times from 1,152 yards and 14 more touchdowns.
Zaydyn Anderson, who was selected to the All-State team as a defensive back a year ago, was chosen as an athlete on the 2025 version of the squad. On offense Anderson made 40 catches for 1,169 yards and 18 touchdowns. He covered an average of 29.23 yards every time he caught the ball.
On defense Anderson made 22 tackles with one interception and six pass break ups. He had 12 punt returns for 157 yards and a touchdown, and three kick returns for 88 yards.
Anderson was a Mr. Football semifinalist and will suit up for the University of Tennessee next season.
Bishop Merriweather was a four-year starter at left tackle for Greeneville and paved the way for a truly dynamic offense this season. Behind Merriweather Greeneville ran for over 2,800 yards this season and averaged 7.3 yards per carry. In total Greeneville produced 428.7 yards per game and 46.5 points per game.
Merriweather was named the Region 1-4A Offensive Lineman of the Year.
On defense Merriweather had 39 tackles, seven tackles for loss, one sack and for quarterback pressures.
Zorian Harris was a disruptor in the middle of Greeneville’s defensive line this season, and was named the Region 1-4A Defensive Player of the Year.
Harris finished the season with 58 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, one sack and 12 quarterback pressures.
He was also a key piece on the Greene Devils offensive line.
Taren Clairdy played a major role in all phases of the game this season for Greeneville and the junior was named to the All-State team as a defensive back.
On defense Claridy had 49 tackles, four tackles for loss, eight interceptions, 10 pass break ups and he scored two defensive touchdowns.
On offense Claridy had 32 tackles for 517 yards and eight touchdowns. He also returned nine kickoffs for 239 yards, averaging 26.6 yards per return.
