The Greeneville Middle School Lady Devils traveled to Lower Afton on Monday for an cross-county clash with Chuckey-Doak, dominating in a 6–1 victory. Greeneville outshot the Lady Knights 28–1 overall, including an 18–1 edge on goal.
Elsie Rodgers opened the scoring in the fourth minute, driving a loose ball into the net for a 1–0 lead.
Seven minutes later Madeliene Robinson doubled the advantage off an assist from Tatum Hill. Rodgers struck again in the 21st minute to send the Lady Devils into halftime up 3–0.
Chuckey-Doak pulled one back in the 40th minute when Penelope Harville found the net through a crowd, trimming the margin to 3–1.
Greeneville quickly regained control. Harper Nease fired in a 30-yard strike in the 43rd minute, and Hill added two more — a loose-ball finish in the 54th and a Nease-assisted goal in the 59th — to cap the scoring.
Greeneville head Coach Rustin Jones was pleased with the result but noted areas for growth.
“We learned a lot of soccer lessons today. We’ll take those and build upon them as we get back to work tomorrow and prepare for Liberty Bell,” he said.
The Lady Devils (3–0) will host the Patriots on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at GMS.
