Greeneville took to the field on Tuesday afternoon to celebrate their six seniors and and face off with cross town opponent North Greene. After the senior celebration, the Lady Devils continued the excitement by pounding out 12 hits, scoring in each inning and coming away with a 14-0 win.
Kyla Jobe got things started quickly in the bottom of the first with a leadoff blast to put Greeneville up 1-0. Madison Carpenter followed suit with a line drive single to right, followed by a free pass to Lydia Darnell. After Lauren Million reached on a fielder’s choice, Kaley Garland drove a shot to left scoring Darnell, making the score 2-0. The final run of the first came as Million scored on a ground out.
The Lady Devils took advantage of some defensive miscues, combined with four hits to score six runs and extend their advantage to 9-0. Jobe and Kaley Garland supplied the offensive power in the inning with doubles, while Carpenter and Lah Phillips singled.
Greeneville continued the barrage into the third, pounding out doubles by Jobe, Darnell, Million, and Destinee Bailey to help secure five more runs and send the game into the fourth and final inning, just before Mother Nature would flex her muscles and bring the game to a halt.
Jobe ended the day going 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and and home-run, while Garland went 2 for 2 with a double and single, and Carpenter 2 singles. Leah Phillips picked up the win from the circle with the shut-out, only surrendering two hits, a double from Hannah Brooks and a single from Lauren Blevins, while collecting 7 strikeouts.
Next up for Greeneville is a visit from the Jefferson County Patriots on Wednesday, before beginning tournament play later on in the week
