SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — The Greeneville Lady Devils golf team made a strong showing in their first TSSAA State Golf Championships as a team since 2014, placing fifth in the Large School classification at the Sevierville Golf Club.
Led by a trio of young talents — sophomore Brylee Catron and freshmen twins Kamryn and Kylee Renner — the Lady Devils finished with a two-day team score of 320 (+40), marking an impressive return to the state stage. The team competed among the top eight teams in Tennessee, making their presence felt in a field loaded with experienced contenders.
Murfreesboro Central and Page tied for first place with a team score of 301 (+21), while Greeneville ended just 19 strokes off the lead in a competitive field. Hardin Valley and Clarksville tied for third with a total of 307 (+27).
Individually, Kylee Renner was the top performer for Greeneville, finishing 24th overall with a total score of 160 (+20). Her twin sister Kamryn Renner wasn’t far behind, posting a 161 (+21) for 25th place. Sophomore Brylee Catron rounded out Greeneville’s scoring with a 164 (+24) to place 30th in her first state tournament appearance.
“It was a great experience for our young team,” said Greeneville coach Nathan Hale. “For all three of our girls, this was their first time competing at this level, and they handled the pressure well. I’m proud of how they fought through both days and we look forward to the future.”
