COSBY – In a game of runs the North Greene boys made the last one on Thursday night and picked up a hard-earned 61-51 win at Cosby.
“This is a tough place to play against a good team. We weren’t perfect. It seemed like we would get a ahead and then do a few things to let them back in it,” Tarlton said. “But we made big plays down the stretch. What I’m most proud of is that when we got up late, we did the things we needed to win. We held on to the ball and executed our press offense. Anytime we can come in here and get a win I’m proud.”

The one-two punch of Lawson Davenport and Lance Carrico led the way for the Huskies as they played well off of each other and put in 21 points apiece.
“They have to be like that every game,” Tarlton said. “Those are two all-league players and if they keep this up maybe they are more than that. I said against South Greene the other night that was Lawson’s best game ever, and he backed that up tonight. If we are going to get where we want to get to those two have to be great.”
North Greene scored the first six points on Thursday with Davenport getting in the paint for a pair of buckets, but Cosby answered with seven points from Cooper Davis to take a 9-8 lead.
Carrico got North Greene going again with a triple from the corner and Davenport followed with a step-back trey as the Huskies closed the quarter leading 16-10.

The Eagles made it a three-point game at 18-15 when Cruz Coggins sank a jumper from the top of the key, but then Davenport rattled home a triple for the Huskies. The lead grew to 24-15 when Thomas Darnell drove to the rim.
Ezra Spurgeon raced the length of the floor for a layup for Cosby that closed the gap to 26-25 at halftime.
On the first possession of the second half Carrico struck from behind the arc and then he set up Davenport for a layup that gave North Greene a little breathing room at 31-25.
The Eagles closed the third quarter on another run and after Coggins scored seven points the gap closed to 41-37.

Cosby’s Draiden Sneed started the fourth quarter with a corner three that pulled the Eagles to within one point at 41-40.
North Greene scored the next seven points, and when Davenport took an inbound pass and sank a jumper from the lane the Huskies held a 47-40 advantage.
A three-pointer by Devonte Wigfall pulled Cosby to within three points again at 49-46 with 3:35 left to play, but the Huskies got going again and did not let the Eagles get any closer.
In the closing stretch Darnell scored four points for North Greene and Carrico landed another three-pointer as North Greene left with a 61-51 win.
Darnell was also in double figures for North Greene with 10 points. Coggins scored 17 points for Cosby while Spurgeon had 12 and Davis had 11.
