North Greene 26, Surgoinsville 24
North Greene Middle School’s clash with the Surgoinsville Eagles was a barnburner from the opening whistle and ended with North Greene pulling off a 26-24 win in overtime. Archer Tippins touchdown run in the OT period tied it up and Trenton Shirey’s two-point attempt was the game-winning play.

With the win, North Greene improved to 1-1.
The Eagles took the opening kickoff all the way for six points, setting an intense tone for the night.
The Huskies answered with grit, battling back to keep the game tight through the first half. With only 14 seconds left before halftime, North Greene punched in a score that cut the deficit to 12-18 heading into the break.
Early in the third quarter, a muffed punt by North Greene shifted momentum sharply in the Eagles’ favor. The Huskies responded when Easton Head connected with Landry Collins for a touchdown, tying the game at 18-18 after a failed two point try.
Back to Back defensive stops by the Huskies’ defense followed and forced overtime.
Surgoinsville had the first possession and scored on third down, but their two point try was stopped cold.
For North Greene’s next possession Archer Tippins had a hard fought touchdown run. On the two-point attempt, Trenton Shirey powered through the defense to cross the goal line for the win.
Tippins finished with a dominant stat line of eight solo tackles, 121 rushing yards, and three rushing touchdowns, leading the Huskies to a statement victory in a game filled with momentum swings.
The Huskies travel to play Providence next Thursday. Kickoff is set for 6:00 PM.
South Greene 27, Rogersville City 14
South Greene Middle improved to 2-0 on the young season with a conference road win over Rogersville City.
Wyatt Milhorn was a workhorse again with 15 carries for 155 yards and three touchdowns. Michael Parris collected three catches for 62 yards and a touchdown as well as one big carry for 38 yards. Sammy Jones was 3-for-4 passing for 62 yards and a touchdown. He nailed his lone extra point attempt.
On defense it was Braevyn Myers flying around everywhere with nine tackles and a sack. Parris followed behind him with seven tackles. Adrian Bobadilla had 5 tackles.
The Rebels host Parrottsville on August 21 at Camp Creek. Kickoff is set for 6 PM.
Greeneville 20, Daniel Boone 22
Greeneville Middle started their season on Thursday night and came up just short in its opener with a slim 22-20 loss to Boone.
The Greene Devils’ own mistakes would come back to cost them, but a resilient effort saw Greeneville still have a chance to win on the final play of the game.
Greeneville travels to Robinson on August 21, kickoff is set for 6 PM.
