It would be a high-low day on Wednesday for North Greene on the diamond. Great pitching and defense would lead to a Region 1-1A Championship for the Lady Husky softball team as they would defeat Cosby 2-1.
With the win, the North Greene softball team earned the right to host the State Sectional which will be played today against Wartburg at 6:00 p.m. from NGHS with a trip to the Spring Fling on the line.
In baseball, the North Greene Huskies would hit the road looking for a pair of wins to advance to this year’s baseball state tournament, but the Huskies would run into a red-hot Coalfield team and would fall in the three-game series in back-to-back games on Wednesday evening.
North Greene would lose game one 10-5 and follow that with a 14-1 defeat in game two to see their season come to a close. With the win, Coalfield will advance to their second straight Spring Fling and seventh in school history.
