ANDERSON, S.C. — Anderson University defeated Tusculum University 17-1 in the quarterfinals of the South Atlantic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Championship Tournament on Saturday at Spero Financial Field at Younts Stadium.
The third-seeded Trojans (12-6) advance to take on second-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne in the SAC semifinals on Wednesday, April 29. The sixth-seeded Pioneers, who were playing their first SAC Tournament game since 2018, end their season with a 9-9 record.
Emma Toole had four goals for the Trojans, with three apiece from Brooke Kelley and Ava Skeffington and two goals and two assists from Megan Muir. Ellie Wilkins added two goals for Anderson, which outshot Tusculum 31-13 and had a 16-4 edge in draw controls.
Elisha Stack scored the only goal for the Pioneers with 7:12 left in the fourth quarter, which came shortly after a 30-minute weather delay following what turned out to be the final goal of the match by the Trojans.
Anderson led 4-0 after one quarter and stretched the lead to 10-0 midway through the second quarter, which they carried all the way to halftime. The Trojans tacked on six goals in the third quarter and collected their final goal with 10:17 left in the fourth period.
Muir had a game-high eight draw controls for the Trojans, while Muir and Christina Dilegge each had three ground balls and Jackie Tiongco recorded four caused turnovers.
Emily White made seven saves in her final career start for the Pioneers, boosting her total to a school-record 489 saves across four seasons. Amelia King had six saves for the Trojans.
