Pioneers Wrap Up Barton Spring Bulldog Clash

PAWLEY’S ISLAND, S.C. — The Tusculum University men’s golf team finished 17th at the Barton Spring Bulldog Clash, which was held at the par-70, 6,526-yard Caledonia Golf Club.

The Pioneers logged a team score of 874 which is the sixth-lowest 54-hole total in school history.

Dominic Barron Holden was TU’s best finisher as he posted a five-over par total of 72-70-73=215 which is tied for the second-lowest three-round total of his collegiate career.

Host Barton won the event as the Bulldogs finished with 839, two shots ahead of runner-ups Newberry and Columbus State at 841. Lander and Shorter tied for fourth with 842, while USC Aiken and North Georgia tied for sixth place with 844. Coker was eighth with 848, followed by Rogers State (863), Wingate (863), Lenoir-Rhyne (865), Mount Olive (866) and King (867).

Three teams finished with 870 to tie for 14th place including Davenport, Limestone and Belmont Abbey. Tusculum was 17th, followed by Emmanuel (877), Erskine (878), Chowan (887), Anderson (890) and Catawba (902).

TU freshman Morgan Cain fired a three-under par 67 to finish with a tournament total 218 and tie for 53rd. Blake Williams also finished 53rd with his 218, which included a 68 in the second round. Isak Holter finished 90th with 78-74-74=226 while Liam van Deventer (75-83-75=233) rounded out the scoring for the Pioneers.

Shorter’s Blake Henriques won medalist honors with a 10-under par total of 200, winning by three shots over Lander’s Linus Jonsson (69-68-66=203).

Tusculum returns to action next week (March 4-5) as the Pioneers compete at the Lander Bearcat Classic in Greenwood, South Carolina.
