The Greeneville baseball team captured its 17th consecutive district championship on Saturday, and junior shortstop Kaine Ricker was a big part of that. His consistent play in the field and at the plate on the way to securing the championship is why he was named the Greene Sports Zone Player of the Week.
Ricker’s biggest day came on Friday in the winner’s bracket final where he went 3-for-3 and legged out an inside the park home run. On Thursday against Volunteer he was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. In the championship game against Grainger on Saturday Ricker was not credited with a hit, but he reached base on a pair of walks and drove in two runs.
