Chuckey-Doak’s Ryland Grindstaff kept making big shots on Thursday night as his Black Knights went on the road and took down rival West Greene 69-68 in overtime. For that he has been named the Greene Sports Zone Player of the Week.
Grindstaff led the Black Knights with 36 points in the win over West Greene, which is the high-water mark for all Greene County players this season. More importantly he got shots to fall when it mattered most. He sent the game to overtime by sinking the tying jumper with nine seconds left in regulation. Then with nine seconds left in overtime he landed the go-ahead bucket to deliver the win to Chuckey-Doak.
On Tuesday in the Black Knights’ loss to Unicoi County Grindsatff was Chuckey-Doak’s leading scorer with 12 points.
