The South Greene boys basketball team got its season started by winning its third straight Hardee’s Classic Championship. After the Rebels went 3-0 in Jonesborough Gavin Dyer was named the tournament’s Most Valuable player and for that he has been selected the Greene Sports Zone Player Of The Week.
Dyer led the Rebels in scoring in all three games. Against Daniel Boone he hit five three-pointers and scored 21 points. Against David Crockett in the semifinals he put in 20 points on the Pioneers’ home floor. Then in the championship game against Volunteer Dyer scored 22 points in the overtime victory.
