SOCCER
Chuckey-Doak 4, Grainger 0
The Chuckey-Doak Lady Black Knights soccer team tallied three goals in the first half and one in the second half to earn a 4-0 shutout of Grainger on the road on Monday.
Senior Lindsey Rojas opened the scoring in the 13th minute off a low cross from Kenley Merriam.
In the 20th minute, Brianne Bowman stole the ball away from a Lady Grizzly defender and shot low and away to put CD up 2-0.
The goal of the game was scored just before halftime, when Caitlin Larsen sent a lofting corner kick to the back post that Lindsey Rojas headed in for the 3-0 advantage.
The Lady Black Knights continued to put pressure on the Lady Grizzlies’ defense for the majority of the second half but were only able to muster one goal.
With only two minutes remaining Jakindsey Church made a run forward and sent a low cross to the back post for America Flores to tap into the side netting for the final goal and the 4-0 victory.
The Lady Black Knights out shot the Lady Grizzlies 31-to-1, to earn the shutout. The CD defensive unit was led by sophomore Serenity Roper who throttled every Lady Grizzly attack, while Khloe Knight won ball after ball for the Lady Black Knights at midfield.
The Lady Black Knights, 6-2 overall, travel to Sullivan East Tuesday for a 6:30 kickoff.
GOLF
The South Greene boys golf team picked up a win on Monday at Link Hills in a four-way match among the county schools.
Keanan Hankins led the Rebels with a 37 and earned medalist honors. Cameron Kinser shot a 38, Brennan Gregg 39 and Trapper Brown 40 for the Rebels team score of 154.
West Greene shot a 190 as a team. Thomas Cogsdell shot a 43, Josiah Dawson 43, Seth Julian 51, and Xander Crisp 53.
Chuckey-Doak shot a 202 team score. Ty Shelton had a 45, Knox McAmis 49, Harrison Ayers 53 and Denver Huff 55.
North Greene’s Nick Norton shot a 65.
In the girls match Chuckey-Doak’s Harley Thompson earned medalist honors with a 37. Alexis Deming had a 58 and Addilyn Boesch shot a 59 for the Lady Black Knights.
South Greene’s Khloe Laws shot a 49, North Greene’s Kylie Listek shot a 62 and West Greene’s Katie Beth Hollingsworth shot a 67.
CROSS COUNTRY
Runners from Towering Oaks Christian School had strong showing on Saturday in the Iron Mountain Invitational XC Meet in Johnson City.
Caleb Scott took first place in a time of 16:47. Wyatt Harrison was 11th and Cole Durra was 16th,
In the girls race Ella Harrison placed third and Alayna Overholt was 11th.
VOLLEYBALL
Greeneville 3, South Greene 0
The Greeneville volleyball team earned a sweep of South Greene on Monday night, 3-0, 25-22, 25-19, 25-18.
Chuckey-Doak3, North Greene 1
The Chuckey-Doak volleyball team went to North Greene on Monday and picked up a 3-1 win, 25-23, 22-25, 25-21, 25-19.
