West Greene 13, Happy Valley 2
The West Greene softball team wrapped up District 1-2A play on Saturday with a pair of wins over Happy Valley. The Lady Buffaloes started with a 20-1 victory and finished with a 13-2 win over the Lady Warriors.
In game one West Greene recorded 12 hits to score their 20 runs while taking advantage of eight errors. Hayley Arnold was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, and two RBIs. Alexis Cutshall was 3-for-4 with five RBIs. Morgan Brown went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a double. Amanda Owens was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.
On the rubber Morgan Brown threw a perfect two innings with no hits, no walks and no runs allowed. Kaylee Willett threw one inning with three walks and no hits.
In game two West Greene got nine hits and took advantage of seven errors. Brown was 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Aubree Everett went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Arnold had a triple with two RBIs.
Brown earned the win. In five innings she struck out three, walked one, and allowed five hits.
West Greene will be back in action on Monday at Greeneville.
BASEBALL
Greeneville 8, Science Hill 7
The Greeneville baseball team picked up an 8-7 win over Science Hill on Saturday.
In a game with 24 combined hits the Greene Devils had 14 safe knocks. Carson Quillen led that effort by going 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored. Carson Norris was 2-for-4 and scored twice. Kobe Mundy was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Noah Murray was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Grayson Crosby was 2-for-4.
On the mound Will Harmon threw 5 1/3 innings with four strikeouts, no walks and eight hits allowed to earn the win.
Quillen got the save in 1 1/3 innings of work. He struck out one, walked none and allowed two hits.
Greeneville will wrap up the regular season on Monday at home against Cherokee. The District 2-3A Tournament will begin on Wednesday at Tusculum. The Greene Devils will be the No. 1 seed.
