North Greene 50, Cosby 43
The North Greene boys basketball went on the road on Saturday night an picked up a tough win over Cosby to keep their season going.
In the Region 1-1A quarterfinals the Huskies took down the Eagles 50-43 to avenge a pair of regular season losses.
North Greene now moves on to the tournament semifinals and will meet Unaka on Tuesday at Washburn at 6 PM.
The Huskies used a balanced attack on offense with Thomas Darnell leading the way with 18 points. Tyler Britton scored 12 points, Isaac Gaby 10 and Jaiden Bailey seven.
North Greene was dominant at the free throw line, going 21-of-23 as a team compared to 2-for-6 for Cosby.
Cruz Coggins led the Eagles with 21 points.
Gatlinburg-Pittman 88, Chuckey-Doak 55
The Chuckey-Doak boys basketball team saw its season come to an end on Saturday night after falling to Gatlinburg-Pittman 88-55 in the Region 1-2A Tournament.
The Black Knights finish the year with an 18-14 record.
Gatlinburg’s Malachi Palmer set the tone early by scoring 12 of his game high 31 points. Jayden Barton scored 19 points for the Highlanders.
Gavin Crum led Chuckey-Doak with 15 points, Ryland Grindstaff had 13 and Ben Palazzo scored 10 points.
South Greene 65, Eagleton 41
The South Greene boys basketball team extended its season on Saturday night by beating Eagleton 65-41 in the quarterfinals of the Region 1-2A Tournament.
The Rebels move on to meet Gatlinburg-Pittman on Tuesday at 7:30 PM in Gatlinburg.
Gavin Dyer led the Rebels with 16 points, Noah Wright had 14 and Jameson White scored 12 points.
For Eagleton Jackson Caylor scored 20 points.
Cumberland Gap 57, West Greene 56
The West Greene boys basketball team saw its season end in heartbreaking fashion on Saturday night, falling at Cumberland Gap 57-56 in overtime in the Region 1-2A Tournament quarterfinals.
West Greene’s Tytus Shelton put the Buffaloes up with five seconds left, but Cumberland Gap’s Neil Bunch drew a controversial foul with 0.8 seconds and made both free throws to seal the victory.
Shelton led West Greene with 23 points on Saturday. Ayden Lamons put in 14 points and Parker Arnott scored 10.
For Cumberland Gap Bunch led the way with 20 points.
Greeneville 71, David Crockett 63
The Greeneville boys basketball took down David Crockett 71-63 on Saturday night to advance to the Region 1-3A Tournament semifinals.
Greeneville will be back on the floor on Tuesday at Grainger High School against Elizabethton.
William Woolsey turned in a career high 24 points to lead the Greene Devils. Braylen Kidwell scored 15 points, Taren Claridy had 13 and Zy Neal added 11 points.
Caleb Eaves led David Crockett with 19 points and Cam Gouge had 14.
