GREENEVILLE
The Greeneville volleyball team had a strong showing in the Stateline Slam Tournament over the weekend.
The Lady Greene Devils went 5-1 with a 2-1 win over Ridgeview, Va., a 2-0 win over Cocke County, a 2-0 win over Rhea County, a 2-0 win over Seymour, and a 2-0 win over Sevier County. In the semifinals Greeneville fell to Tennessee High 2-0.
WEST GREENE
The West Greene volleyball team went 3-1 on Saturday at the Stateline Slam.
The Lady Buffaloes started the day with a 2-0 win over Cumberland Va., they beat beat Elizabethton 2-1, And took down Patrick Henry, Va. 2-0. West Greene finished the day with a 2-0 loss to Hendersonville.
CROSS COUNTRY
The Greeneville Middle School cross country team ran the Bristol Cross on Saturday, and in the girls race Maggie Moore was the first to cross the finish line.
Moore ran the two mile course in 12:44.8 which was nearly 15 seconds ahead of second place.
Greeneville’s Bethany Knight was 38th, Savana Reid was 40th, Gwen Ramirez 54th and Caitlin Durante 91st.
As a team the Lady Greene Devils placed sixth out of 16 teams.
In the boys race Mason Boatman came in eighth place in a time of 11:56.50. Hayden Church was 23rd, Neylan Vega 65th, Riggs Leonard 81st, and Sawyer Goodwin 87th.
As a team the Greene Devils placed seventh out of 19 teams.
