SOFTBALL
North Greene 13, Unaka 1
The North Greene softball team went to Unaka on Thursday evening and picked up a 13-1 win.
With the win the Lady Huskies lock up the No.1 seed in the District 1-1A Tournament, and stay unbeaten in league play.
Josie Graham had a big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two home runs and six RBIs. Tralyn Southerland was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Hannah Brooks went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Heidi Trentham was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
In the circle Brooke earned the win. In seven innings of work she struck out eight, walked one and allowed three hits.
Volunteer 6, Greeneville 2
The Greeneville softball team fell to Volunteer 6-2 on Thursday night.
The Lady Greene Devils were held to six hits. Brylee Tullock went 3-for-4. Gabby Atchison, Kaley Garland and Katie Johnson all had one hit.
In the circle Jamie Jackson took the loss. In 4.1 innings she struck out two, walked four and allowed seven hits. Brynlee Jones threw 1.2 innings with two strikeouts, no walks and four hits allowed.
Chuckey-Doak 11, Happy Valley 1
The Chuckey-Doak softball team took down Happy Valley 11-1 on Thursday in District 1-2A play.
At the plate Jayden Myers went 4-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs. Hayleigh Seidl went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Hayden Kenney was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Jessie Dayton went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Liberty Sauceman had a double with two RBIs.
Elizabeth Manuel threw five innings with eight strikeouts, six walks and four hits allowed.
Cherokee 10, West Greene 4
The West Greene softball team fell to Cherokee on Thursday, 10-4.
The Lady Buffaloes earned eight hits. Alexis Cutshall went 3-for-4 with a home run, double and three RBIs. Autumn Carter, Abby Cluesman, Kaylee Willett, Abagale Jackson and Amanda Owens all had singles.
Jackson took the loss. In six innings she struck out four, walked one and allowed 14 hits.
BASEBALL
Greeneville 9, Volunteer 2
The Greeneville baseball team wrapped up District 2-3A play on Thursday with a 9-2 win over Volunteer.
Sam Thompson was in control on the mound, striking out 13, walking none and allowing five hits in a complete game effort.
At the plate Jack Lister was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Will Harmon was 3-for-4 with and RBI. Kaine Ricker and Thompson both had a double.
West Greene 11, Gatlinburg-Pittman 1
The West Greene baseball team took down Gatlinburg-Pittman 11-1 on Thursday evening.
The Buffaloes got a strong performance on the mound from Jayden Cox who struck out 10, walked three and allowed five hits in five innings.
At the plate Ethan Carpenter was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Brandon Hunter had two RBIs and two runs scored. Aidan Willett was 1-for-1 with two RBIs.
Lakeway Academy 6, Chuckey-Doak 2
The Chuckey-Doak baseball team went to Lakeway Academy on Thursday and fell 6-2.
The Black Knights were held to four hits. Kiptyn Ball, Cooper Seay, Benjamin Palazzo and Dom Atchison all had singles.
On the mound Ball went 5.2 innings with five strikeouts, two walks and nine hits allowed.
SOCCER
Greeneville 5, Jefferson County 1
The Greeneville soccer team picked up a 5-1 win over Jefferson County on Thursday evening.
The Greene Devils got goals from Justin Banegas, Emerson Hensley, Addison Lenker, Remi Elyze-Vital and Aidan Inscore. Samuel Gourley had two assists and Cristian Banegas had an assist.
TENNIS
The Greeneville and South Greene tennis teams split a match on Thursday evening.
The Greeneville boys won 6-1, and the South Greene girls won 4-3.
In boys singles Greeneville’s Maccormack Cutshall beat Kaiden Fillers 8-3. Jackson Peters beat Simon Burns 9-7. Ryan Jobe won 8-2 over Ayden Hawk. Parker Quillen won 8-2 over Jackson Ottinger.
South Greene’s Brant Wilhoit beat Ryoma Taniguchi 9-7.
In doubles Greeneville’s Jobe and Quillen beat Burns and Wilhoit 8-0. Peters and Taniguchi beat Fillers and Hawk 8-0.
In girls singles South Greene’s Bailey Ricker defeated Emma Light 8-4. Brooke Howell won 8-5 over Julieann Raby. Taylor Rowe beat Kerry Birdwell 9-8. Jaelyn Fillers beat Angelyn Diaz 8-5.
Greeneville’s Brylee Catron beat Ari Hoese 8-4.
In doubles Greeneville’s Catron and Raby defeated Hoese and Ricker 8-6. Greeneville’s Diaz and Light beat Howell and Wilhoit 8-3.
