Elizabethton 2, Greeneville 1
The Greeneville soccer team fell to Elizabethton 2-1 on Thursday in the Region 1-AA championship game.
It was the Lady Devils first loss in the region tournament since 2018, and sends them on the road to Anderson County on Saturday for the state sectionals.
Greeneville’s Matea Gray scored the first goal of the night in the second minute.
The Lady Greene Devils had plenty of attacking opportunities after that, but they could not find the right touch to beat keeper Abby Krawcyzk the rest of the night.
Elizabethton evened the score in the ninth minute when Vella Nave made a solo run through the defense.
The Lady Cyclones took the lead in the 50th minute when Izzy Lewis converted a penalty kick for the 2-1 lead.
VOLLEYBALL
Chuckey-Doak 3, Crockett County 1
The Chuckey-Doak volleyball team saw its season come to an end on Thursday in a 3-1 loss to Crockett County in the Class AA State Tournament, 25-22, 24-26, 25-16, 25-21.
The Lady Black Knights end a historic season in which they made the state tournament for the first time as one of the top six teams in Class AA.
CSAS 3, South Greene 0
The South Greene volleyball team’s time in the Class A State Tournament ended on Thursday in a 3-0 loss to Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences, 25-19, 25-13, 25-19.
The Lady Rebels finish the year as one of the final six teams standing in Class A after advancing to the state tournament for the 17th consecutive season.
