TRACK AND FIELD
Class A East Section Decathlon
South Greene’s Ben Ballast finished in second place at the Class A East Section Decathlon on Tuesday at Eagleton and earned a spot in the Class A State Track Meet.
South Greene teammates Tripp Neas and Evan Still placed third and fourth respectively and will have a chance to qualify as wildcards once all state sectionals are complete.
Ballast placed second in the pole vault, discus, triple jump, 110 hurdles, long jump, shot put and high jump.
Neas was first int he discus and shot put, second in the pole vault, third in the 100 meters, and third in the 400 meters.
Stills was third in the high jump and third in the 110 hurdles.
BASEBALL
Chuckey-Doak 7, Johnson County 6
The Chuckey-Doak baseball team went eight innings on Tuesday before earning a 7-6 walk-off win over Johnson County.
After falling behind in the top of the eighth the Black Knights scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to earn the win. Benjamin Palazzo sent a line drive up the middle that scored Cooper Seay, and then Braxton Lowe ended the game with a groundball past the shortstop that pushed across Gavin Crum.
The Black Knights finished the night with 12 hits. Lowe was 3-for-5 with a double. Palazzo was 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Lynkin Cutshaw and Randall Sauceman each had two hits.
On the mound Kayden Bowers got the start and went 2.1 innings. He struck out one, walked two and allowed four hits.
Gavin Murray threw five relief innings, striking out five, walking one, and allowing two hits.
Gavin Crum threw the final .2 innings to earn the win. He struck out one, walked none and allowed no hits.
Chuckey-Doak 9, Apostolic Christian 3
Chuckey-Doak started the day with a 9-3 win over Apostolic Christian.
At the plate Mason Henderson was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Cooper Seay was 2-for-4. Kayden Bowers had a double. Hudson Cox and Knox McCamis each had two RBIs.
Collin Bishop earned the win. In six innings he struck out six, walked one and allowed seven hits.
Greeneville 2, University High 0
The Greeneville baseball team went to Johnson City on Tuesday and picked up a 2-0 win over University High.
At the plate Tegan Begley was 2-for-4 with a double. Jaxon Winter was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Kaine Ricker, Will Harmon and Grayson Crosby all had one hit, and Sam Thompson had an RBI.
On the mound Harmon tossed a complete game with six strikeouts, two walks and four hits allowed.
North Greene 18, Happy Valley 4
The North Greene baseball team picked up an 18-4 win over Happy Valley on Tuesday.
The Huskies collected 12 hits, nine walks and were hit by four pitches.
Tyler Britton was 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Isaac Gaby was 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs. Colten Suggs was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Owen Pierce had a double and four RBIs.
Aidan Halley earned the win. In four innings he struck out four, walked one and allowed two hits.
Pigeon Forge 10, West Greene 3
The West Greene baseball team fell 10-3 at Pigeon Forge on Tuesday night.
At the plate the Buffaloes were held to five hits. Carter Stills was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Jhonen Bath and Aidan Willett each had a double.
Eli Brown took the loss on the mound. In two innings he struck out none, walked one and allowed six hits.
Bronson Brown threw three innings with three strike outs, one walk and four hits allowed.
South Greene 11, Unaka 0
The South Greene baseball team picked up an 11-0 win over Unaka on Tuesday night.
At the plate Tyler Davis had a double and two RBIs. Dawson Ripley had two RBIs and two runs scored. Eli Fillers, Cayden Fillers, Cameron Kinser and Christian Darnell all had singles.
Colten Fillers earned the win. In five innings he struck out seven, walked none and allowed three hits.
SOFTBALL
Greeneville 2, Grainger 0
The Greeneville softball team stayed on top of the District 2-3A standings on by taking down Grainger 2-0.
Brynlee Jones was dominant on the rubber for the Lady Devils, striking out 15, walking three and allowing three hits.
At the plate Abi Deeble was 2-for-3. Jones had a double. Gabby Atchison and Brooke Parsley each had an RBI. Kaley Garland, Brylee Tullock and Katie Johnson each had one hit.
North Greene 8, Unaka 6
The North Greene softball team took control of the District 1-1A standing on Tuesday with an 8-6 win over Unaka.
Both teams entered Tuesday’s contest unbeaten in league play and North Greene maintained its perfect record with the win. The Lady Huskies will go to Unaka on Thursday to try and complete the season sweep.
North Greene collected 12 hits. Eva Leonard was 3-for-4 and scored twice. Kinlea Eastep was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Charlie Turnmire was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. Hannah Brooks drove in three runs and Matti Phillips had a double.
Brooks earned the win from the circle. In seven innings she struck out six, walked none and allowed 11 hits.
Chuckey-Doak 14, Tri-Cities Christian 8
The Chuckey-Doak softball team picked up a 14-8 win over Tri-Cities Christian on Tuesday.
Haleigh Seidl went 2-for-4 with a triple, double and four RBIs. Jayden Myers was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Elizabeth Manuel was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Madisyn Miller was 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored. Paylin Shelton was 2-for-4 with three runs scored.
Manuel earned the win for Chuckey-Doak. In four innings she struck out seven, walked one and allowed three hits.
