Greeneville Wins At McDonald Hills
The Greeneville boys golf team defeated Cherokee and Sevier County on Monday in a three-way match at McDonald Hills Golf Course.
Nathan Howlett led the way with a 35 to earn medalist honors. Maps Gray shot a 36, Bryson Ricker 38 and Andrew England 38 for the Greene Devils’ team score of 147.
Landon Aldridge and Carson Waters each had a 39.
Sevier County shot a 157 and Cherokee had a 160.
South Greene Wins At Graysburg Hills
The South Greene boys golf team earned a win on Monday at Graysburg Hills in a four-way match among the county schools.
Kennan Hankins earned medalist honors by shooting a 36 for the Rebels. Cameron Kinser turned in a 37, Brennan Gregg had a 42, and Trapper Brown a 44 for South Greene’s team score of 159.
West Greene shot a 182 as a team. Josiah Dawson led the Buffaloes with a with a 41, Thomas Cogsdell had a 42, Seth Julian 47 and Xander Crisp 52.
For Chuckey-Doak Harrison Ayers had a 49, Ty Shelton 52, Blake Parkins 57, and Denver Huff 59. As a team the Black Knights shot a 217.
In the girls match Chuckey-Doak’s Harley Thompson led the way with a 41 and Alexis Deming had a 58.
South Greene’s Khloe Laws shot a 54, North Greene’s Kylie Listek shot a 61 and Katie Beth Hollingsworth shot a 62.
CROSS COUNTRY
The Greeneville boys cross country team came in fifth place over the weekend at the Run For The Hills race in Bristol.
Jules Richard led the Greene Devils with a 16th-place finish in 19:30.8. Grant Tunnell was 21st in 19:56.5. Mason Boatman was 26th, Riley DiSalvo 33rd, and Jesse Reneau was 36th.
West Greene’s Julian Greenlee was 25th in a time of 23:30.1 Jacob Morris was 46th and Skyler Rembert was 76th.
Noah Losacker of Lakeway won the race in 17:25.30, and the Lions won as a team.
Two Greeneville girls placed in the top 15 as individuals. Ashlynn Ranly placed ninth in 23:39.0 and Bethany Knight was 14th in 24:35.71.
For West Greene Clair Crews was 66th and Natalie Beeler was 68th.
Arvella Nave of Elizabethton was the girls champion in 21:08.9. Sullivan East won the team event.
At the Scots Opener race at Maryville College South Greene’s Chelsea Metcalf earned a second-place finish in 21:39.0. Ava Leasure placed 13th in 25:24.0, Kinzlee Darnell was 29th, Riley Walters 32nd and Kylie Jeffers 61st.
The Lady Rebels finished fourth as a team with 89 points. Alcoa was first with 41 points.
Bella Courtney of Powell was the individual champion in 21:06.0.
For the South Greene boys Noah Case came in the fifth place in 18:17.0. Jayden Laycek was 41st, Gabriel McKinney 43rd, and Benly Stewart 86th.
Parson Campen of Knox Central placed first in 17:06.0. Heritage won the team title with 46 points.
VOLLEYBALL
Chuckey-Doak 3, South Greene 0
The Chuckey-Doak volleyball team started a big week on Monday with a 3-0 win over South Greene, 25-13, 25-21, 25-22. The Lady Black Knights now have two big conference games coming up, against Greeneville on Tuesday and at Sullivan East on Thursday.
North Greene 3, Cedarview Christian 0
The North Greene volleyball team continued its winning ways on Monday with a 3-0 win over Cedarview Christian 25-12, 25-11, 25-19.
West Greene 3, Cocke County 0
The West Greene volleyball team was in full control on Monday as it earned a 3-0 win over Cocke County, 25-13, 25-13, 25-15.
Science Hill 3, Greeneville 0
The Greeneville volleyball team fell at Science Hill on Monday 3-0, 25-9, 25-19, 27-25. Greeneville will step back into District 1-AA play on Tuesday at Chuckey-Doak.
