BASEBALL

West Greene 3, Claiborne 0

The West Greene baseball team got its season started on Tuesday with a 3-0 win at Claiborne.

On the mound Brandon Hunter and Jayden Cox combined to throw a one-hit shutout. Cox went 4.2 innings with 11 strikeouts, seven walks and no hits allowed. Hunter went 2.1 innings with four strikeouts, no walks and one hit allowed. The Bulldogs broke up the no hitter with one out in the seventh inning.

At the plate Jhonen Bath went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Hunter was 2-for-3 with a double. Aiden Willett had an RBI double for West Greene.

David Crockett 8, Chuckey-Doak 6

The Chuckey-Doak baseball team fell to David Crockett on Tuesday night 8-6.

Kayden Bowers took the loss on the mound. In three innings he struck out three, walked two and allowed six hits.

At the plate Ben Palazzo went 2-for-2 with three RBIs for the Black Knights.

Lakeway Christian 8, Greeneville 1

The Greeneville baseball team fell to Lakeway Christian 8-1 on Tuesday night.

At the plate Grayson Crosby went 3-for-3 with a double for the Greene Devils. Tegan Begley went 2-for-3, and no other Greene Devils reached base.

Randen Fillers started on the mound and went two innings with two strikeouts, four walks and four hits allowed. Silar Lewis threw 3.1 innings with three strikeout, no walks and four hits allowed. Begley threw .2 innings with one strikeout and one hit allowed.

SOFTBALL

David Crockett 13, Greeneville 3

The Greeneville softball team opened the season on Tuesday with a 13-3 loss to David Crockett.

Jaime Jackson took the loss in the circle. In 3.1 innings she struck out two, walked three and allowed six hits.

At the plate Brooke Parsely had a triple and two RBIs. Kinslee Lewandowski had a double and an RBI. Kaley Garland, Baylee Ramsey, Gabby Atchison and Katie Johnson each had a single for Greeneville.

BASKETBALL

Greeneville 65, Elizabethton 60

The Greeneville boys basketball team advanced to the Region 1-3A championship game on Tuesday by beating Elizabethton 65-60 in the tournament semifinals.

The Greene Devils will now have a chance to win their second consecutive region title on Thursday when they take on Tennessee High at 7 PM at Grainger High School.

In the back and forth contest Yordan Mills led the Greene Devils with 20 points, Zy Neal had 19 points and Taren Claridy scored 12.

For Elizabethton Nathan Bailey scored 18 points, Hudson Pate had 15, Evan Chambers 12 and Jackson Buckles 10.

Unaka 61, North Greene 50

The North Greene boys basketball team forced overtime on Tuesday night in the Region 1-1A semifinals but saw its season come to an end in a 61-50 loss to Unaka.

Tyler Britton led North Greene with 21 points, including the tying three-pointer at the end of regulation. Isaac Gaby was also in double figures with 10 points.

For the Rangers John Hardin had 21 points, Justis Wallin 14 and Austin Lambert 12.

Gatlinburg-Pittman 72, South Greene 51

The South Greene boys boys basketball team saw its season come to an end on Tuesday night in a 72-51 loss to Gatlinburg-Pittman in the Region 1-2A semifinals.

South Greene finishes the year with a 20-13 record.

Gavin Dyer led the Rebels with 19 points and Noah Wright put in 14 points.

For Gatlinburg-Pittman Jaydon Barton scored 18 points, Roger Matute 17, and Inaki Palomares 17.
