The Tennessee Sports Writers Association has released their 2024 All-State baseball team and Greeneville/Greene County has 4 representatives.
Greeneville’s Carson Quillen and Colton Richards joined the 3A team for the second consecutive year, while Chuckey Doak’s Christian Derry and West Greene’s Mason McCamey were named to the 2A team.
Quillen, a junior who has committed to Virginia Tech, hit 0.453, collected 38 runs batted in, scored 50 runs, and stole 25 bases. He also went 9-2 on the mound, while holding down a 0.92 ERA.
Richards was equally impressive at the plate, completing the season with a 0.412 batting average, driving in 45 runs, and crossing the plate 38 times helping the Greene Devils reach the class 3A state semi-finals.
McCamey, a senior, who played an important role in the Buffaloes winning the district championship and advancing to the regionals, hit 0.431 and drove in 36 runs, while scoring 37 times himself. He also went 4-3 on the mound with 63 strikeouts. His career stats of 164 strikeouts, 80 runs batted in, and 123 hits are all atop the Buffaloe record books.
Derry, a senior, who was also named to the TSWA All-State basketball team, hit 0.528, drove in 26 runs and scored 21 times as he collected five doubles, a triple, and three homers on the year. He also stood out on the mound with a 2.50 ERA with 63 strikeouts, while only walking 9.
