COLUMBIA, Mo. – Tennessee junior forward Kate Runyon lifted the No. 5/6 Lady Vols to a 2-0 win at Missouri Thursday night after recording her first-career brace.

With the shutout victory over the Tigers (4-4-1), UT (7-1-1) now has eight clean sheets through nine games on the season and holds a +20 goal differential. Throughout nine matches, Tennessee has had four players register two or more goals in a match.

With a scoreless game through 44 minutes of play, Reese Mattern and Skylar Miller both put shots on goal but Missouri’s Kate Phillips made the saves. Runyon then acted swiftly off the rebound after Phillips’ save deflected back to her and poked it in the net to break through for the Big Orange.

After heading into the break with a 1-0 lead, the Lady Volunteers continued to apply defensive pressure and control both sides of the field. In the 56th minute, senior defender Ally Brown sailed it down field to Runyon who was able to knock it in for her second score of the night and extend the lead to 2-0.

Cayden Norris, who started in goal for Tennessee, came up clutch in the second half with a pair of saves after Missouri tried to answer. The Johnson City, Tennessee, native’s final save of the night included a leaping save in the 81st minute to secure the shutout result. Overall, Norris had three saves, bringing her season total to 21.

Missouri’s goalkeeper, Phillips, secured seven saves on the night as Landis Canada logged a pair of shots for the Tigers.

Tennessee outshot Mizzou 12-to-5 with nine coming on frame while also earning five corner kicks on the night.

UP NEXT: The Lady Vols return home to Regal Stadium Sunday for a 2 p.m. ET matchup versus LSU.
