ROCK HILL, S.C. — Tusculum University shortstop Ben Scartz and second baseman Caleb Webster have been named to the 2025 All-South Atlantic Conference Baseball third team announced league officials on Thursday.
The All-SAC Baseball Team is selected by a vote of the league’s head coaches.
Scartz, a 6-1, 210-pound graduate student from Tarpon Springs, Florida, earns All-Conference honors for a third straight season becoming the fifth Pioneer in program history to garner All-SAC laurels three or more times. He joins an illustrious group which includes four-time winner Daulton Martin, three-time picks George Hanger, Skip Talarek and Mat Galens.
Scartz finished second on the team with his .331 batting average where he totaled 42 hits including eight doubles, one triple, three home runs and 29 RBI. He played in 36 games with 35 starts as he scored 24 runs, was hit by pitch seven times and did not strike out in his 147 plate appearances.
Scartz recorded 12 multiple hit games and posted a career-high six RBI at Lenoir-Rhyne which are the seventh-most in a TU single-game.
During his 125-game career at Tusculum, Scartz finished with 171 hits with 33 doubles, five triples, four home runs, 103 runs and 101 RBI. He drew 51 walks against only 20 strikeouts as he posted a .359 batting average. He also recorded an on-base percentage of .432.
Webster, a redshirt freshman from Franklin, Tennessee, played in 44 games as he led the team in hits (60), doubles (17), total bases (83), hit by pitch (15) and fielding assists (85). He posted multiple-hit outings on 17 occasions as he posted a 17-game hitting streak from Feb. 15-Mar. 18. He ended the season reaching base safely in his last 18 consecutive contests (Mar. 28-present).
Webster accounted for a pair of four-hit contests against Newberry and Limestone as his 17 doubles are fourth in the conference and 36th in NCAA Division II. He was hit by a pitch 15 times in 2025 which are ranked fifth in the SAC and are the fourth-most in a TU single-season.
