AUSTIN, Texas — Six Tusculum University student-athletes have been named to the 2024 NCAA Division II Women’s At-Large Academic All-District® 3 first team as selected by the College Sports Communicators.
Earning Academic All-District Women’s At-Large honors for the Pioneers are lacrosse midfielder Lucy Brewer, golfer Reagan Padilla and the beach volleyball quartet of Morgan Browne, Olivia Browne, Katie McLamb and Charlyn Miller.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Women’s At-Large Team recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances for the following NCAA sports: beach volleyball, bowling, crew/rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing and water polo.
District 3 is comprised of colleges and universities representing the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt Conference and Conference Carolinas. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 (undergraduate and graduate) or higher and must be at least a sophomore. Nominees must compete in 90 percent of the institution’s games played or start in at least 66 percent of the institution’s contests.
Brewer, a native of Williamstown, Victoria, Australia, earned her Bachelor of Science degree this past May. She garnered magna cum laude honors while majoring in marketing as she finished with a 3.66 GPA. She is a member of the SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, Tusculum Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, Dean’s List and Charles Oliver Gray Honors List. She is a two-time recipient of the Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award.
On the field, Brewer was a two-time All-South Atlantic Conference selection including 2024 where she was an All-SAC second team pick. She led TU in goals (37), points (48), shot attempts (89), shots on goal (67), ground balls (41), draw controls (81) and caused turnovers (28). Her 81 draw controls were a new program single-season record as she was named Tusculum’s most valuable player.
Brewer wraps up her TU career with 104 goals which are the fifth-most by a Pioneer. Her 130 points rank her sixth in the TU record book including 26 assists (8th in TU history). Her 73 career caused turnovers are the second-most by a Pioneer while her 203 draw controls and 105 ground balls are listed third and fourth respectively in school history.
Padilla, a sophomore from Gallatin, Tennessee, has a 3.67 GPA while majoring in sports science. She is a member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, Dean’s List, Gray Honors List and the SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll. In 2023 she was named a Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar.
Padilla established a new TU single-season record with her 75.40 stroke average while playing in all 10 events. She finished in the top-20 in every tournament including a TU single-season record eight times in the top-five. She claimed medalist honors at the King Invitational and the Converse Invitational. She also finished runner-up at the Agnes McAmis Memorial and tied for third at the SAC Championship with a 54-hole total 220 which is the second lowest in TU history. For her efforts, she was named her team’s most valuable player.
Padilla’s 76.86 career average is the fourth-lowest in school history. She has nine top-five finishes in her young TU career which are tied for fifth-most in program history.
The sister duo of Morgan and Olivia Browne are graduate students from Vernon, British Columbia, Canada. Both have a perfect 4.00 GPA while working on their Masters degrees in business administration. Both are members of the President’s List, Dean’s List, Gray Honors List and the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
The Brownes were named the team’s co-most valuable players while leading Tusculum to a 24-12 record this spring. The duo went 27-6 in doubles including 16-3 at the top-flight and 11-3 at No. 2 doubles.
McLamb, a native of Stern, North Carolina, graduated from Tusculum with her Bachelor of Arts degree while garnering magna cum laude honors. She finished with a 3.78 GPA while majoring in elementary education and is a two-time AVCA Top Flight selection. She is also the recipient of the D2ADA Academic Achievement Award.
Miller, a product of Murrieta, California, earned magna cum laude distinction while receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree from Tusculum. She majored in history while posting a 3.94 GPA. She is a member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, Dean’s List, Gray List and the President’s List. She is a D2ADA Academic Achievement Award honoree.
The McLamb-Miller pairing both earned CSC Academic All-District laurels in 2023 and the duo went 25-8 in doubles this spring. Miller finishes with a career record of 74-33 which are the most victories in program history. McLamb’s 69-21 career mark has her with the second-most wins ever by a Pioneer.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women’s at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in July 16.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-2024 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
