Jasper Co., TX – High school anglers took to the waters of Sam Rayburn Reservoir on Sunday afternoon in search of a trophy catch during the 2026 Strike King Bassmaster High School Series event.
Out of 158 teams competing, 147 brought bass to the scales. Rising above the field was the duo from Lakeside High School, as Grayson Gross and Wally Wolcott claimed the top spot with a five-fish limit weighing 27 pounds, 5 ounces.
South Greene’s Shane Williams turned in a strong performance as well, finishing 28th after landing five fish totaling 15 pounds. Meanwhile, Chuckey Doak teammates Noah and Logan Mentz were forced to withdraw from competition after suffering a break in their trolling motor shaft.
The tour now shifts east, with the next stop scheduled for April 12 at Santee Cooper.
The Bassmaster High School Series offers a nationwide competitive pathway for youth anglers, blending tournament fishing with education and conservation efforts while helping participants build lifelong skills and friendships on the water.
