AUSTIN, Texas — Tusculum University student-athletes Madison Adkins and Macey Snapp have been named to the NCAA Division II Academic All-District® 3 Women’s Volleyball first team as selected by the College Sports Communicators.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Adkins returns to the Academic All-District squad for a second straight season, while Snapp makes her inaugural appearance on the All-District team.
District 3 is comprised of colleges and universities representing the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt Conference and Conference Carolinas. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher, must be at least a sophomore and played in 90 percent of their team’s sets and matches or start in 67 percent of their team’s contests.
Adkins, a senior setter from Olive Hill, Kentucky, has a 3.99 GPA with a double major in biology and chemistry. She is a member of the Tusculum President’s List, Charles Oliver Gray Honors List, SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll and the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. She was recently named the SAC Women’s Volleyball Scholar Athlete of the Year.
She is a two-time All-SAC performance including this past fall where she garnered first team accolades. She averaged 8.93 assists per set (4th in SAC) while starting in all 27 matches. She accounted for 938 assists, 299 digs, 50 blocks and 26 service aces. The 2023 AVCA All-American dished out 2,030 assists for her career, which are the seventh-most in TU history. Her 8.06 career assists per set average ranks eighth in the Tusculum record book.
Snapp, a sophomore libero/defensive specialist from Chuckey, Tennessee, has a 3.91 GPA while majoring in sports science (pre-physical therapy & pre-athletic training). The South Greene High School graduate is a member of the SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, Dean’s List, Charles Oliver Gray Honors List and the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
She appeared in 25 matches while playing in 80 sets where she averaged 2.13 digs per set and accounted for a dozen service aces. She posted double-digit digs on eight occasions including in seven of her last eight outings.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in January.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-2025 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
